National Semiconductor released its quarterly settlement report as of November 25, 2007. Sales decreased by 0.5% year-on-year to US$409 million; operating profit increased by 15.6% year-on-year to US$143.8 million; net profit decreased by 0.9% year-on-year to US$90.6 million.
The gross profit margin was 64.4%, a significant increase from the 58.9% in the same period last year. The main reason is that the demand for new high-value-added analog products in the mobile phone market is strong, and the revenue of the manufacturing sector is improved due to the increase in supply.
It is expected that as of the end of February 2008, its sales will decline by 1 to 5% from the previous quarter. It is expected that the gross profit margin will fall, the operating expenses will remain at the same level, and there will be a reduction in revenue and deduction compared with the previous quarter. However, compared with the poor performance of the same period last year, it is expected to increase by 10 to 15%.
