A few days ago, according to a set of data released by Yunnan Power Grid Company, last year alone, Yunnan ’s west-east power transmission reached 124.2 billion kWh, accounting for 60% of the total electricity sent by the South China Power Grid ’s west-east power transmission, close to Beijing and Hainan provinces. With the sum of electricity consumption for the whole year, Guangdong and Guangxi have reduced coal consumption by more than 200 million tons due to the green power supply in Yunnan. Since the implementation of the strategy of power transmission from west to east, Yunnan has actively built a clean energy base with hydropower as the mainstay. In recent years, power construction in Yunnan has been in full swing. A large number of hydroelectric power generation projects have been put into operation in the Jinsha River, Lancang River and other basins, and nearly ten million kilowatts of new energy power generation projects have been built. The energy structure has been further optimized. At present, clean energy power generation accounts for 94%. In order to effectively absorb the surplus clean hydropower in Yunnan, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration successively issued documents such as the "Provincial Consumption Work Plan for Key Hydropower Provinces" and "Notice on Promoting Hydropower Consumption in Southwest China" and other documents, which clarified the goals of hydropower consumption in Yunnan : On the basis of 96.5 billion kWh of electricity generated by the inter-provincial priority power generation plan, Yunnan's market-oriented power output shall not be less than 20 billion kWh. Yunnan Power Grid Company predicts that the province's electricity transmission from West to East will exceed 130 billion kWh for the first time this year, an increase of approximately 6% year-on-year, and an additional 21 billion kWh from the annual plan. In fact, Yunnan's West-East Power Transmission Channel has been increasing, and its power transmission capacity has been increasing year by year. With the full-scale commissioning of the UHV DC transmission project from northwest Yunnan to Guangdong in 2018, the maximum capacity of cloud power transmission channels can be increased by 5 million kilowatts, and up to 20 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy can be delivered to Guangdong each year.
