At 22:50 on August 11, with the joint efforts of construction units, operation and maintenance units, and dispatching and debugging units, the 500 kV Mangkang Substation No. 1, located in Lawu Mountain (4300 meters), Mangkang County, Changdu, Tibet The main transformer was successfully electrified, and the world's highest 500 kV substation was completed and put into operation, marking the historical leap of the voltage level of Tibet's power grid from 220 kV to 500 kV.

The 500 kV Mangkang Substation is the first terminal station of the Tibet-China Interconnection Project, and it is also a hub station. It is connected to the Sichuan Power Grid in the east, Lhasa and Nyingchi power grids in the West, and the Qamdo Power Grid in the north. The commissioning of this station is vital to the entire project. On August 4, the relevant intervals of the 500 kV rural substation and the 500 kV Batang substation equipment of the extension of the Sichuan-Tibet Interconnection Project were successfully electrified. The voltage level of the Sichuan-Tibet Interconnection Project was raised from 220 kV to 500 kV. At 9 o'clock on August 10th, the start-up of the 500 kV Mangkang Substation officially began. The 500 kV Batang substation was sent to the Mangkang Substation. The 500 kV Tangmang I line was successfully charged at 17:36 on the same day. 8 At 11:02:29, the Tangmang II line was successfully charged. At 22:50, the substation 1# main transformer was successfully charged, and at 17:42 on the 12th, the 2# main transformer was successfully charged.

The 500 kV Mangkang Substation is put into operation. Our district power grid enters the 500 kV ultra-high voltage era

According to reports, the Tibet-China Interconnection Project is by far the most complex and challenging plateau power transmission and transformation project in the world. Most of the project path runs along high-altitude ridges. The average operating altitude along the project exceeds 4000 meters, and the highest tower is located. At an altitude of 5,295 meters, Dongda Mountain is the world's highest 500 kV power transmission tower. The project traverses the core area of the Hengduan Mountains and the hinterland of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and is located in the "Sanjiang" fault zone with the most complex geological structure and the widest distribution of geological disasters in the world. The topography and landforms along the project are complex and diverse, and the climate is changeable. The annual effective construction period is only 6 months, especially for areas above 4500 meters above sea level, where the effective construction period is less than 5 months; The ecosystem is a complex and extremely fragile challenge.

This project is currently the single power project with the largest investment in Tibet and the longest power grid project in Tibet. After the project is completed, it will break multiple records of the existing power grid project construction and operation and create multiple world records.
