Overview:
The flyback converter has the advantages of simple circuit topology, electrical isolation of input and output, wide voltage rise/fall range, and easy multi-channel output, so it is an ideal circuit topology for the inverter auxiliary switching power supply. However, the voltage spike caused by the leakage sense energy storage when the flyback converter power switch is turned off must be suppressed by the clamp circuit. Because the RCD clamp circuit is simpler and easier to implement than the LCD clamp and active clamp circuit, the RCD clamp flyback converter is more practical in small power conversion applications. Combining the RCD clamp flyback converter with peak current control technology results in a high performance inverter auxiliary switching power supply. This paper mainly discusses the principle of RCD clamp flyback converter, introduces various settings of UC3843 current control type pulse width modulator, and gives design examples and test results.
