The AL1696 is available in three MOSFET voltage/current rating models that give design flexibility to meet the requirements of home lighting production. The AL1696 can be used in buck or buck-boost topology, with a critical conduction mode for constant current conversion and high power factor. It also reduces switching noise, simplifying electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility testing and certification processes. This design requires only a single-winding inductor to achieve ±3% current sensing accuracy. With a low operating current of 120μA and a startup current of 150μA, the device is compatible with a variety of Leading-edge and Trailing-edge dimmers, and is compliant with the American Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) SSL6.
