Precision voltage reference drive up to 200mA, 0.1ppm/mA load regulation and 10ppm/oC drift

Linear Technology CorporaTIon introduces the precision voltage reference LT6658 with two high current output buffers. Based on a 2.5V bandgap voltage reference, each output can be individually configured to any voltage between 2.5V and 6V. Both outputs provide 0.05% initial accuracy, 10ppm/°C temperature drift, and low-frequency noise of only 1.5ppm. These outputs can drive up to 50mA and 150mA, respectively, as well as up to 20mA. At load currents up to 150mA, typical load regulation is only 0.1ppm/mA. In parallel connection, the buffer outputs can be combined to provide even greater current.

The LT6658 is ideal for using one output to drive the reference input of a high resolution ADC or DAC while using the other output to power other devices. The two outputs track each other with changes in temperature and load, allowing them to handle applications requiring proportional power rails. These outputs have excellent power supply rejection and can be stabilized with up to 50μF capacitors over the specified operating range. With this output capability, the LT6658 can serve as both a reference and regulator. Alternatively, the LT6658 can also be used to generate a reference plus a virtual ground, or as two matching tracking references.

Brendan Whelan, design manager at Linear Technology Corp., said: “The growing demand from customers for precision voltage references with the ability to drive regulators has inspired us to develop these super-buffering benchmarks. The result is groundbreaking LT6658. Refulator."

The 2.5V version of the LT6658 is available. The 1.2V, 1.8V, 3V, 3.3V, and 5V versions will be available in the first half of 2017. The purchase price for 1,000 tablets is US$2.35 per tablet.

CBD Pod System

A new rule from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) threatens to upend the American hemp industry, and could even result in criminal prosecutions for manufacturers of CBD and delta-8 THC products.

The DEA says the [interim final rule," issued Aug. 20, is simply a matter of adjusting its own regulations to account for changes to the Controlled Substances Act that were mandated by the 2018 Farm Bill (or Agricultural Improvement Act) that legalized hemp and CBD production. The new rule [merely conforms DEA`s regulations to the statutory amendments to the CSA that have already taken effect," says the agency. The new rule doesn`t break any ground, according to the DEA.

But many experts on cannabis and hemp law say the DEA rule creates a potential pathway the law enforcement agency could use to prosecute hemp processors and producers of CBD (cannabidiol) and delta-8 THC (or Δ8THC) products. There are two issues: partially processed CBD, and [synthetically derived" delta-8 THC.
