The first phase of China Mobile's TD-LTE scale test has ended, and the test instruments and systems exposed in the test are still not perfect. The main performance is the lack of multi-mode terminal test instruments, road test instruments and tools need to be further strengthened, and wireless network analysis and optimization instrument tools need to be innovated.

Test instrument needs to be strengthened

For the test problems faced in the TD-LTE scale test, Wei Guiming of the Institute of Telecommunications of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that the focus is on the need for further enhancement and innovation in systemic testing capabilities. The next phase needs to be strengthened in four aspects: first, to develop a wireless test system for smart antenna and MIMO networking research; second, to develop test instruments for multi-mode terminals, to improve various types of instruments for production lines and research and development; Third, accelerate the development and improvement of road test instruments and tools, improve test functions and measurement accuracy, and enhance analysis capabilities; Fourth, innovative research and development of wireless network analysis and optimization of new instruments and tools.

In this regard, TD Technology Forum Secretary-General Shi Guang expressed his approval, he said that in the test instrumentation, the basic functions and performance tests of TD-LTE products can be achieved, but there are still two aspects that need to be strengthened. First, it is necessary to strengthen the network test network optimization test tool. The TD-LTE network is coexisting with multiple networks. The difficulty of networking is increased. The test tools for network planning and network optimization are necessary. Second, the business simulation test instruments and systems should be strengthened. Different business types and different user behavior habits, deep business simulation and business performance testing.

Innovative end-to-end testing

At present, the demand for TD-LTE test instruments has covered all aspects of the entire industry chain. With the development of new technologies, the requirements for testing have also changed. Wei Guiming said that the improvement of testing ability is not a problem of simple development of instruments, and new technologies require innovative testing capabilities. In order to meet the requirements, we need to make efforts in three aspects: first, strengthen basic research and standardization; second, establish end-to-end testing; and third, strengthen multi-level coordination of quality testing capabilities.

In response to the new demand for testing of new technologies, Zhao Lijun, director of the China Mobile Research Institute, said that at present, the requirements for testing need to be “measurable, measurable, and identifiable”. Since the establishment of the China Mobile Research Institute, we have been using a variety of test instruments in our work. With the expansion of the network scale, the business platform continues to expand, and the instrument is also expanding. The meter is very expensive, although a single meter can well meet the single point test, but the current meter design can not achieve the synergy between multiple instruments, so there is no way to do the whole link test. Therefore, test instruments should be platform-oriented, networked, automated, and intelligent. It is necessary to establish an end-to-end tool support system by abstracting the common features of instruments in various fields.

Based on this demand, China Mobile proposed the concept of cloud testing, and introduced the cloud computing technology into testing to improve testing capabilities. At present, cloud testing is still in its infancy, and China Mobile hopes to establish a TD-LTE "cloud test" instrumentation system and conduct TD-LTE end-to-end testing.

Promote the industrial chain

For a long time, test instrumentation has been lagging behind the development of system equipment. This is mainly because test instrumentation has invested heavily in the research and development stage, and the modification flexibility is poor. In the face of uncertain market demand, the pressure on test companies is often large. In the TD-LTE industry chain, test instruments and systems also need to be improved.

Lin Xuecong, product marketing manager of Anritsu, said: "There is still a lot of concern for TDD investment, because TD-LTE test equipment is still in the research and development stage. Although the investment is large, the return is very small, and the FDD test we developed. From this perspective, as a test company, we expect TD-LTE terminals to achieve mass production. China Mobile should carry out more activities to further expand this standard to the world and test the products of the company. Will get a large-scale application."

In this regard, Wei Guiming said, "The innovation of the instrument is promising. Although its market is small, it is very important. It may be a short link in the industry chain, but the lack of this ring, the industry chain will be broken."
